I mean Winners of the…

Sometime on January 27, 2001, the front page counter registered, then passed the 20,001 mark,
thus bringing to a close the great Circe's Funhouse 2001/20001 Contest.

As it turned out, the Contest was only open to entries for about 11 days - far less than I had anticipated, basically because the counter quickly jumped from below 17,900 to 18,500 just as I was preparing to announce and post a page onsite with Contest info.

There were a total of 32 entries, with predictions for '20001-day' ranging from January 9th (2 days after the contest opened) through June 14th. My own guess that the counter would hit 20,0001 around late February - early March turned out to be completely inaccurate, by the way.

Interestingly, no one selected the winning date. Instead, one entrant picked the day before - January 26 - while another guessed the 28th. (Both entries came in near the very beginning of the contest, too, on Jan. 8 & 9; so much for waiting to the last second for maximum accuracy.) I thought the rules I dreamed up covered all the possibilities, but I didn't anticipate this happening. (If I had, I would've added another rule, like declaring the winning guess the closest one prior to the actual date, or the closest day submitted first.)

Good sport that I am (not to mention someone who wants to see as many people transformed into animals as possible), I've decided to declare a tie and make both the above entrants the winners!
